Emotional Health and Well-being

Preventing & treating unhealthy stress and negative emotions

When faced with chronic stress and extreme emotions, people will often develop physical symptoms. The first symptoms may be relatively mild, like chronic headaches, sleeping problems and increased susceptibility to infections. Problems with appetite, weight gain or loss and loss of enjoyment of activities previously enjoyed may follow.
With more exposure to chronic stress, however, more serious emotional and physical health problems may develop. It has been estimated that as many as 90% of doctor's visits are for symptoms that are at least partially stress-related!

The Emotional Health Clinic offers diagnosis and effective complementary treatment and self-help techniques as life-style advice. Though dealing with the realm of emotions, the self-help techniques are integrated, treating mind, emotions and body alike. (see Stress, Health and Performance). The techniques applied are based on a sound scientific understanding of the interactions of physiology (autonomic nervous system, breathing, circulation, endocrine system and immune system) and consciousness (cognition, emotion and motivation).
